Workshops & Seminars

Our main offers are based on the creation of Web Content Management Systems (WCMS) for your institution. This offers a great variety of different advantages for your institution, and helps you create a international student community. A Web Content Management System is web based Content Management System (CMS) software, usually implemented as a Web application, for creating and managing specific content. It is used to manage and control a large, dynamic collection of Web material. A WCMS facilitates content creation, content control, editing, and many essential Web maintenance functions. For many higher education institutions, the user generated content can facilitate and create an enormous database on international relations and on all sorts of practicalities on exchange programs and study abroad. Further information on WCMS can be found at Wikipedia.

A further advantage is that most tools are designed to allow users with little or no knowledge of programming languages to create and manage content with relative ease of use. Unlike Web-site builders like Microsoft FrontPage or Adobe Dreamweaver, a WCMS allows non-technical users to make changes to an existing website with little or no training. One to two days would be sufficient for basic workshops on the creation of articles, lists, categories, and how to manage the system once its running and installed. A WCMS typically requires an experienced coder to set up and add features, but is primarily a Web-site maintenance tool for non-technical administrators.

We offer 1-2 day seminars and trainings on managing education communities and managing your own WCMS on international relations. As changes can be made by various users and content can be added by a great variety of persons, it is helpful to instruct different persons who will work with this system to gain a deeper insight into education communities, social software and the usage of the software.

Main topics and content of the workshops & Seminars

The workshops and seminars will be concentrated on the control and administration of the website we created for your institution and on the usage of Social Software and its benefits for Higher Education Institutions.

  • The new international exchange website we offer for your institution will be - similar to Jadiliano - an open source web based Content Management System. We will show you advantages and usability of the system and show you how to create and modify articles, lists, surveys, and further tools for managing international communities. This website including the community and the forum has been created with a Content Management System as well, and we will show you how to create your own forum, an international community and how your institution can benefit from this tool.
  • We believe that Social Software can offer a great variety of advantages for universities and education institutions. We will present general ideas on Social Software, different offers and how free tools and websites can help you improving the internationalization of your institution.

Social Software offers numerous benefits for your institution. We believe that Social Software will also contribute to enhancing education of your students' community, and will help you creating and maintaining a highly interactive education community at your institution. In February 2009, the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) offered a conference on "International Education: Engaging Communities". Please click here for having a look at the conference and the program.

The topics mentioned in the presentation will also be treated and explained in our seminars and workshops. Please contact us for further information.
